AoH: Beyond the Basics invites you to come and dive deep into those areas in your practice that are holding you back from working at scale, and to bring your real challenges of complexity and uncertainty to a collaborative lab where together we can crack new insights and design new ways forward!
the training - methods, theory, advanced design and application
The three days are designed as an immersion. This is not for spectators. We will be working on real projects and challenges from the diverse fields of activity of the hosting team and participants. There will be periods of intellectual engagement in mental models, deep dives into personal reflection and experiential activities to push us through to new levels of insight and learning. Our intention is that we all leave different; inspired by new clarity in our minds, transformed by personal insight and with concrete plans to lead the next level of change tucked in our back pocket.
Core elements that run through the training:
- Story - What have we learned from leading change all over the world with vary degrees of success?
- Application - How can I apply what I am learning here to my organisation, community or context?
- Personal leadership - What do I need to come to peace with now to become the leader I want to be?
- Global perspective - How is what is happening in the world now important to our learnings together?
Designing for large scale, multi year, multi stakeholder engagements
Art of Hosting Beyond the Basics builds on the lessons of years of applying participatory leadership to large scale systemic change initiatives in healthcare, indigenous child and family services, food systems, faith communities, poverty, homelessness, urban planning, corporate change, public engagement, civic governance, entrepreneurship and more.
All four practitioners have build their practice of systems change and large scale engagements from a foundation of facilitation and participatory leadership grounded in the Art of Hosting. As problems and processes move from single meetings to multi-faceted systemic initiatives, there are principles and practices that stay constant and others that change. Working at scale requires skillful design and hosting of core teams as well as large scale gatherings. It requires a deep personal practice and the ability to work in difficult relationships. It demands a transcendent ability to overcome fear, work with opponents and create powerful clarity within incomprehensible complexity.
We will touch on:
